Summer Variety Show 2014 – Stars in your Eyes
The following is a Review by the Daily Echo of our Summer Show which has just had the final performance.
What a wealth of talent Otterbourne possesses for such a small Village. Producers Kay Warne and John Pitman pull of yet another slick, topical and fun romp, giving the young and old (er) a chance to showcase their aptitude for entertainment. This is home grown theatre, where it is abundantly clear that everyone is valued and cares, and it shows. The costumes are many and varied, the lighting and sound unfailing and the set and props just so. Then theres the cast, baby faced Nathan Smith sweetly singing Puppy Love and Bethany Warne giving Barbara Streisand a run for her money. If singing is not your thing then Nicky Williams gave Pam Ayres time and Chris Williams and Terry Revell pulled Archie Andrews out of the bag (suitcase). The best for me was the end of act group numbers commemorating the First World War and D-Day, which showed a sensitivity and strength that made the memories accessible. I cant wait for their next performance.
This says it all, as opposed to writing my own article, although I must just mention our two young stars, Louis Still who sang from the musical Oliver and Xanthe Gibbs who took on the role of Shirley Temple, they were both absolutely brilliant, and our Stars of the Future.
